Jacob Wigger & Valerie Salstrom

Jacob Wigger started swing dancing in 2003 and has been hooked ever since. He became serious about Balboa in 2005 and began traveling to various events and competitions not much later. Jacob is most at home social dancing but also enjoys competing as a chance to push himself to become a better overall dancer. As a teacher he enjoys using a mix of humorous (in his opinion) analogies and serious instruction to create a fun and exciting learning environment. Jacob has taught at events including All Balboa Weekend, Frenchie Balboa Festival, Snowball, Balboa Rendezvous, and The London Balboa festival to name a few.

His most recent wins include: 1st place in the International Balboa Championships in 2011, 1st place in the Balboa division of the National Jitterbug Championships 2011 and 1st place in the Strictly Balboa competition at the Eastern Balboa Championships in 2011.

One of America's busiest Lindy and Balboa teachers, Valerie has a reputation for her finesse on the dance floor. She emphasizes musicality and connection regardless of the style of swing.

Valerie is enthusiastic about passing on her love and passion for dance and she brings a fresh, interesting, and lighthearted attitude to both the dance floor and the classroom. She is the organizer of the 'All Balboa Weekend' held annually in her home town of Cleveland. This weekend event first started in 2001 and was the first major dance camp dedicated solely to Balboa. It features the American Classic Balboa Championships (ACBC), one of the nations most respected and sought after Balboa competitions.
